2010 Championships & Festival

This next weekend is the 2010 South Pacific International & New Zealand National Accordion Championships  & Festival. The event is the Raye Freedman Arts Centre, Silver Rd, Epsom.

One of the most exciting parts will be the South Pacific Accordion Championships on Sunday morning. Competing are two players, Edward Giffney and Bor-Kuan Song, who represented New Zealand proudly at the 2009 Coupe Mondiale with fine results.  You can be assured of some excellent quality music in this category as they compete for the $1,000 prize money.

SATURDAY 5th JUNE

  • Competitions from 9.30am to 12pm
  • Competitions from 1.00pm to 2.30pm
  • NZ Orchestra Rehearsal 3pm to 4.30pm

CONCERT 5pm to 6pm to honour NZ Coupe Mondiale entrants, Musicale & Guest Artist He Qian.  Kevin Friedrich will be attending to personally thank all the New Zealand competitors for their superb representation of New Zealand at the 2009 Coupe Mondiale, to thank their teachers, and to also thank the NZAA Committee for all their work in making the event a huge success.

SUNDAY 6th JUNE

  • Competitions from 9.30am 12pm
  • NZ Orchestra Rehearsal 12.30pm to 2pm
  • FAREWELL CONCERT 2.30pm to 4pm. Winners of SP256 Open Solo SP252 Piano Accordion Solo, NSAO, New Zealand Orchestra, Guest Artist He Qian.

ENTRY PRICES

  • Weekend Pass: $30 Adult, $15 Child
  • Session Pass: $10 Adult, $5 Child
  • Sunday Concert: $15 Adult, $5 Child, $10 Senior
  • Dinner, 7pm Fairway Lodge: Adults $50 Child $25

COMPETITION REMINDERS

  • If you still have a trophy please return it cleaned and engraved immediately to Lionel Reekie at the Music Education Centre.
  • Please remember to take a copy of your music for the judges
  • Note that the REPORT TIME is 20 minutes before the class
  • Please remember to turn off your cell phones before the competition starts.
